I Michael Saylored my DCA

Back in 2014 I had 2 Bitcoin and as the story goes I sold them….for a loss. Did not quite understand what I had at the time. Fast forward to 2024 I understood that if I don’t start stacking now I would never have a meaningful amount of bitcoin. While meaningful is subjective I had my mind set on the “Whole Coiner” prize. Like most, I don’t have the kind of money to just buy 1 bitcoin so I started stacking as much as I could.

As Bitcoin’s price was rising from mid 2024 to now I felt like I was chasing a train that was only gaining momentum in the form of a higher prices and the likelihood of achieving a whole coin was slipping away. I decided to take out a personal loan with my wife being on board of course for a significant amount of money with a fixed 6% interest rate. It’s a 10 year note with manageable monthly payment. I took that money and bought the remainder of what I needed to buy a whole coin. I finally caught the train.

Now every month I make my loan payment and that is the equivalent of DCA but in the form of a loan payment instead of stacking everything month. The total interest over the life of the loan is around $16,000. My mental math is, will bitcoin increase by my loan amount plus $16,000 within 10 years? In my mind the answer is yes and their for a worthwhile investment.

Lastly, I shared this post by Michal Saylor who publicly let the world know exactly how much bitcoin he has. If he can do it publicly then I can anonymously let the bitcoin community here know that I have a whole coin and not care. Some people here get weirdly salty when people share their bitcoin holdings.

That whole coin is chilling in cold storage off the exchange and I hope to leave it to my children one day.
