BTC and ETH are the blue chips but their associated transaction fees are not to be sniffed at. Hence, in order to preserve my wallet, I routinely convert these assets to Litecoin when I need to transfer them between exchanges.
LTC has several advantages: low fees, zero downtime, wide availability. But I know that these advantages are not exclusive to it. There are similar coins with such characteristics, Nano and XLM being two of them.
